FREEFORM ceramics
Most of the FREEFORM ceramics were created with porcelain that has been impressed with fabric. I used offcuts of lace, linen and ruched satin from my dressmaking days.
The other pieces with smooth fluid shapes have evolved from emulating linen fabric. They are difficult to complete successfully as they require skill, patience and a lot of luck in the kiln. The paper clay holds its shape when being formed but is very unpredictable when fired so many of the freeform pieces do not make it and those that do are rare indeed.
